A CHANGE OF FEELINGS IS THE PATH TO REWRITING YOUR DESTINY.
STATEMENT OF NEEDS
The two areas in the community across this nation shows a major increase in homelessness and transgender people. These two areas our government is not equipped to overcome by themselves, they need help from well-structured organizations from the nonprofit sector. Everywhere you look someone is pan-handling or asking for financial assists. Times are getting harder for individuals and families to make the basic necessities to secure themselves. It’s even four times harder for trans-women. Discrimination was pervasive for the entire sample, but anti-transgender bias coupled with structural racism meant that transgender people of color experienced particularly devastating levels of discrimination, with Black respondents often fearing worse than all others.
The Homeless and Transgender people experiences negativity from education to employment and housing discrimination, from police brutality to health care disparities and Black transgender people are suffering at an extremely high rates due to bigotry and trans-phobia. Nearly half of all Black transgender respondents report being harassed at work and at school. Twenty-six percent are unemployed and 34 percent report annual incomes of less than $10,000 per year. These numbers are appalling and these living conditions are unacceptable for any human being — gender conforming or not. Health Inc. is committed to bringing visibility to the gross inequities faced by our transgender brothers and sisters, and to creating a world where gender non-conforming individuals can work, love and seek medical attention without fear of discrimination, harassment or violence.
